Mrs Lund, Matt and Val
I dont know why God decided that it was time to take Peter from you. But he must have had a bigger plan for him.
When my mother died, I was told that God must have needed a very special angel to come to heaven and dispatch other angels to help those in need. Well, I feel that she called on Peter for a very special task.
I was very mad and upset that Peter was called to heaven so quickly. But I know that he died doing just what he loved to do, and he had Matt next to him through it. He would not have had it any other way.
Matt, just know that whenever you are called to a fire, your father is right next to you, helping you put that fire out safely so you can return home to your family.
I wish that I could have had more time to get to know Peter. But I am so thankful for the memories that I do have of him.
May God bless you all and keep you safe from harm.

I AM
By John Laakso

I am a strong and brave firefighter,
I wonder if god is really looking down on me,
I hear gods voice in my head.
I see gods light guiding me out of the burning building.
I want to become hero and save a life,

I am a strong and brave firefighter,
I pretend to fight fires all the time,
I feel the intense heat from the flames,
I touch the children and adults and save them from the deadly flames,
I worry about all of the other firefighters,
I cry when we lose a brother,

I am a strong and brave firefighter,
I understand that I risk my life everyday when I rush in to save a victim or property,
I dream that one day fires will stop,
I say that all of us will make it out safe and sound,
I try to rescue everybody that is trapped or in trouble before it is too late,
I hope that if I die, I die in the line of duty, doing something I love,
FIREFIGHTING,

I am a strong and brave firefighter.
I am Peter Lund

I still remember the day I met Pete Lund. I was at the Washington Hospital Center to visit Matt in the burn unit. Matt and me had shared emails back and forth, but had yet to meet in person. I didn't know what to expect, it was like a blind date. Anyways I walk into the room not knowing who is who. I tell Pete I am here to visit Matt and he tells me that he is Matt's father and he works at Rescue 2, FDNY.

We talked for a while till Matt woke up from his afternoon nap. Then we sit and talk some more. I was there for almost 3 hours. A few days later a package arrives in the mail from Pete. It was some shirts, stickers, and pins from Rescue 2. I didn't ask for anything, he just sent it.

We still kept in touch via email. Then a few years later I found myself in Iraq with the Marines. Pete would send me letters and packages to help keep my spirits up.

Pete was a great person and will surely be missed by all who knew him.
