Lt. Lund passed away on Tuesday, June 14, shortly before midnight after becoming suddenly ill while operating at the scene of a house fire in Woodmere, New York.

  Lt. Pete Lund joined the FDNY in 1973 and retired from Rescue Co. 2 in 2003. He was a lifelong member of the Woodmere Fire Department, as well as an active member of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department.

  He is survived by his wife, Andrea; Daughter, Valerie; and son, Matthew, who is also an active member at Woodmere. Lt. Lund has touched the careers of thousands of firefighters throughout the country with his outstanding personality and endless knowledge of firefighting.

  A true legend in American fire history, he will not be soon forgotten. The officers and members of the Woodmere Fire Department express our deepest sympathies to family and friends. Please join us in keeping the family of Lt. Lund in your thoughts and prayers.
